Simplifying the Process
Dividing property for married spouses can quickly become complicated. Under Ontario’s Family Law Act, both spouses are entitled to an equal share of the value of the property accumulated during the marriage – with some exceptions.
I will work with you, your spouse and opposing counsel to develop a fair, non-acrimonious agreement about how to divide property. To determine the amount, each spouse calculates a net family property and one spouse may be required to pay the other an equalization payment.
There can be exceptions to the rules in complicated situations, and I’ll ensure we take a reasonable approach that doesn’t undervalue your needs.
