About Briar
After working at a downtown firm and as counsel to children’s aid societies, I launched a collaborative law practice in 2019 in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood – where I also live with my partner and two children.
In my career, I’ve gained extensive knowledge in managing serious family and child matters, intricate financial situations, and separations of varying degrees of conflict. No matter the case, it’s crucial to focus on resolution and negotiate directly and fairly – especially important when children are involved.
A member of Collaborative Divorce Toronto, I am sought out by clients who prefer resolving their issues in a non-adversarial manner.
What I’ve learned in family court
I have spent over 2,500 hours in family court and, as a result, have a unique lens on how to resolve cases efficiently.
As CAS counsel, I excelled at presenting arguments that resonated with judges. I watched their reactions to certain lines of discussion and learned how to gain their trust. Amidst often emotionally-charged cases, my reputation is in taking a compassionate, conscientious and creative legal approach.
A pragmatic and practical family lawyer, I steer clients toward the issues that matter. I won’t let you spend money and time where it isn’t necessary to the heart of the case.
